Below is the first of a new series of paid, biweekly posts featuring curated clothing listings across the vast, wild, overpriced internet. I’ve tried to include minor throughlines between the high and low, and to keep things interesting between the weeks.

I’ve made the pricing for access to these posts as low as Substack would allow me, a minimum of $5 monthly or $30 yearly. It’s more than I was hoping to ask, and more than I usually pay for internet writing, but I hope you’ll find it reasonable and somewhat enticing.

With that…

HI

Over $100, for dreaming.

  • Kapital Corduroy Propeller Coverall Jacket.

  • The ever-ubiquitous Needles Cardigan

  • Engineered Garments Furry Leopard bomber

  • Crazy Katherine Hammnett Outerwear

  • A trusty Junya Trench

NEW SEASON

  • One of the more innovative products of the new season is the Dries Van Noten double-breasted white poplin shirt, which resembles a double-breasted blazer but is styled as tucked into pants underneath larger outerwear.

  • J.W Anderson has anticipated the FW24 runway cat obsession with these glorious paw mules.

  • On the subject of Jonathan Anderson, his patchwork Loewe sweater for this season looks deliriously oversized and comfortable.

  • Martine Rose leathers this season are aged to perfection. Hairy Jackets hang beautifully in salmon or black as well, a perfect layer for January chills.

  • Bigger spender? Try spending on the Marni deer necklace.

THE TANNER FLETCHER SALE

I like Tanner Fletcher! They were finalists for the 2023 CFDA/Vogue fashion fund, embodying both the antique Americana obsession of Bode, the queer fancy boy models of SS Daley, and the pastels and bows of Sandy Liang and Shushu/Tong. What I like about this sale is their mixture of vintage, unsold pieces, and one of one standouts.

  • Great vintage blouses featuring patterns of jewels or ‘chic‘ ladies.

  • Prefer a newer blouse? Try their in-house version adorned with roses.

  • A vintage “hunting” vest for a dog lover.

  • Colorful shirt samples made of deadstock vintage fabrics, here and here.

  • Gorgeous flared check pants to top it off.

CHLOE

If you’re in New York City, stop by the Jewish Museum on a Saturday to catch the exhibit on the history of Chloe. Unlike most fashion museum exhibits, there are no mannequins, no glass barriers, and a gorgeous set of the Jewish Museum’s converted mansion halls. The show allowed space for the flashiest of standout dresses by Lagerfeld and Mccartney, the subtlest of Philo fabrics and innovations, and a room of blouses from every era.

  • Chloe By Karl Lagerfeld Cashmere Zipper Jacket. Featured in the exhibit, and at a surprisingly low price.

  • Chloe by Phoebe Philo SS05 jacket

  • Chloe by Phoebe Philo 2005/2006 Striped Pants

  • Chloe by Phoebe Philo Wide Leg Pants

  • Chloe by Stella McCartney Cardigan. Most of Mccartney’s standout Chloe is difficult to find under $500. Here’s an exception.

LO

Under $100!

  • A beautiful pair of pants by Undercover

  • Japanese Gardening brand Sassafras makes lovely pants with great pockets.

  • Remaining sizes of the Bill Evans x Online Ceramics Tee? Yes, please!

  • Another Needles Cardigan (less fuzzy, but more colorful)

  • Any Oregon fans? Engineered Garments will provide.

THE HUMBLE VINTAGE TEE

  • A Calvin and Hobbes tee, just like the one my third-grade teacher wore.

  • A Ralph Steadman tee, just like no one’s third-grade teacher wore.

  • A Prince 1990s tour tee. just like the one I will wear if I ever teach the third grade.

  • Not usually one to post about Supreme, but this 2004 tee is both subtly branded and fun enough to enjoy.

  • If that’s too obvious, try a piece of Los Angeles streetwear history with even subtler branding, and a Beastie Boys co-sign, and a dog! This X-Large tee is a beaut.

SNEAKERS

  • Buttery Junya Watanabe New Balances.

  • A CDG Air Max in gray for a low low price. These beauties are gorgeous in person.

  • A cut from my high school years, the OAMC Adidas. If that’s too minimal, I also like A COLD WALL’s gorp-ish take on the Converse hi-top.

  • A funkier pick, anyone hesitating about these Salehe Bembury New Balance 990s should try imagining them on a hot summer day tickling the grass, or beside worn blue denim.

  • The Green and Brown Asics Gel Lyte MT I saw a coworker wearing.

MORE CHLOE GEMS

  • Chloe by Phoebe Philo striped pants

  • Chloe wide leg pants

  • See by Chloe black lace top

  • Chloe by Hannah MacGibbon 2011 mock neck sweater

  • A beautiful wizened Chloe Bag. If you’re going for Chloe “bohemia“ (god I hate that word) battered is better.
